A Laundry That Needed Better Lighting

We recently completed a laundry lighting upgrade in Lysterfield South, where the client had been struggling with poor visibility over their bench space.

Although downlights were installed above, they simply weren’t providing enough functional light where it mattered most, directly under the overhead cabinetry. This is a common issue in laundries, where shadows from cabinets can make everyday tasks more difficult.

The client had previously been told that adding lighting under the cabinetry would be “too hard”, but we knew there was a practical and clean solution.

The Solution: LED Strip Lighting Under Cabinetry

To resolve the issue, we installed LED strip lighting to the underside of the overhead cabinets on both sides of the laundry.

This type of lighting provides even, consistent illumination across the benchtop, eliminating shadows and significantly improving usability.

LED strip lighting is a simple but highly effective way to maximise lighting in areas where downlights alone aren’t enough.

Scope of Works

Our team completed the following:

• Supply and installation of LED strip lighting under both cabinet runs
• Installation of new power to support the LED strips
• Installation of a dedicated switch for easy control

All work was carried out in line with Australian Standards, ensuring a safe and compliant installation.

The Result: A Brighter, More Functional Space

The difference in this laundry is night and day.

What was once a dim and impractical workspace is now a well-lit, functional area that supports everyday use. The LED strip lighting not only improves visibility but also adds a clean, modern finish to the cabinetry.
