Ferguson Electrical recently completed a rangehood electrical fit-out for a new café in Pakenham, delivering a system designed to handle the demands of a busy hospitality environment.
Rangehood systems in commercial kitchens play a critical role in maintaining airflow, removing heat, and ensuring a safe working environment.
For this project, we installed and configured the electrical components required to properly control the rangehood motors, ensuring smooth and consistent operation.
This included integrating motor control systems that allow for both automated and manual functionality.
As part of the installation, we wired and commissioned two Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) to control the rangehood motors.
VFDs allow for better control of motor speed and performance, improving efficiency while reducing wear and tear on the system.
By setting up and testing both units, we ensured the rangehood system operates reliably under different load conditions.
To suit the needs of a commercial kitchen, we installed a timer system to automate the operation of the rangehood based on trading hours.
This allows the system to run when needed without relying on manual switching, improving efficiency and consistency.
We also installed a manual override switch, giving staff full control when required—especially useful during prep times, extended hours, or unexpected demand.
All cabling was installed from the switchboard to the motor control systems, ensuring a safe and compliant setup.
We also supplied and installed a 2-pole contactor to manage the rangehood motors, providing an additional layer of control and protection.
Every component was tested and commissioned to ensure the system is ready for daily operation.
