Ceiling fans, bathroom ventilation, lighting and a Daikin split system upgrade for a Chelsea home

Sometimes the best home improvements aren't part of one huge renovation. They're the practical electrical upgrades that make different areas of the home more comfortable and functional every day.
Our Ferguson Electrical team recently completed a range of electrical works at a home in Chelsea, Melbourne, tackling lighting, ceiling fans, bathroom ventilation and air conditioning in the one project.
With warmer Melbourne weather in mind, the scope included wiring and installation for two DC ceiling fans in the upstairs areas of the home.
The fans were supplied by the client, with our electricians taking care of the electrical installation.
DC ceiling fans are an increasingly popular choice for bedrooms and living spaces, offering an efficient way to improve airflow and make rooms more comfortable without always relying on air conditioning.
We also replaced the existing stairwell light with a new 300mm LED oyster light.
Stairways benefit from good, even illumination, and an LED oyster fitting provides a simple, low-profile solution that works particularly well in areas where a hanging light isn't required.
It's a relatively straightforward electrical upgrade that can make a noticeable difference to both visibility and the appearance of the space.
The bathroom received a couple of practical upgrades as part of the works.
The existing unit was replaced with a new two-light Tastic, providing heating and lighting for the bathroom.
An additional fan with integrated light was also installed to improve ventilation.
Good bathroom ventilation is important for managing moisture and humidity, particularly after showers. If an existing exhaust fan isn't performing effectively, upgrading or adding ventilation can make the bathroom considerably more comfortable.
The project also included replacing an existing air conditioning unit with a new 2.5kW Daikin split-system air conditioner.
A correctly sized split system can provide efficient heating and cooling for individual rooms, making it a practical option for bedrooms, home offices and smaller living spaces.
With the new Daikin system installed alongside the ceiling fan upgrades, the homeowners now have greater flexibility over how they keep the home comfortable throughout Melbourne's changing seasons.
One of the advantages of having an electrician tackle several items at once is being able to finally work through those electrical jobs that have accumulated around the home.
On this Chelsea project, that meant addressing:
Rather than treating each as a separate project, the works could be planned together to give the home a practical overall upgrade.
